2021 Online Lessons

As the lockdown continues into 2021, we have organised for our local young musicians to have weekly 1-2-1 lessons with the international artists who have performed for Absolute Classics, both in our live concerts and our more recent virtual concert seasons.

These award winning musicians include Yuki Negishi, piano and Anthony Brown, saxophone – as pictured above.

Due to the reinforced COVID restrictions going into 2021, young musicians have had to return to online tuition, and additionally those who play wind, brass, piano and percussion or young vocalists, have not able to receive in person lessons or practice support for exams since the first lockdown almost a year ago. The young musicians living throughout Dumfries and Galloway have been particularly affected as tuition provided within the region prior to the restrictions were group sessions delivered by visiting students from the Scottish Conservatoires. This means their regular access to professional tuition has been completely severed.

Since 2015, Absolute Classics has worked to enhance local music education by providing free masterclasses and workshops with our international visiting performers. Since the first lockdown in 2020, we have worked to provide our region’s young musicians with a consistent, professional musical education by delivering free online masterclasses, and now we have moved to provide more regular tution with these free lessons.
