From August 5th through to 14th 2016, Absolute Classics delivered the International Musicians Platform – a stunning and varied programme of 11 classical music concerts across Dumfries and Galloway. During the International Musicians Platform we arranged for our visiting international musicians and vocalists to provide free masterclasses for local young people under 26, where they experienced a half hour 1-2-1 session of professional tuition on technique and musicianship.

We delivered a total of 34 half hour 1-2-1 masterclasses for local young people and all comments from both participants and parents expressed how much they value this opportunity. One talented young musician said he had never been comfortable taking a piano lesson before we offered him this masterclass. The following comment from one parent demonstrates how these half hour sessions have had a significant and lasting impact:
“That was very nice of Sasha to say that, yes, I think Dylan has potential too – it’s sometimes just a challenge trying to channel it ;-). He enjoyed the masterclass very much, I could see that by how focused he was. It’s a bit unusual for him to be that focused for that long when being taught – Sasha was very tuned in to him!”
